Almost there.......wherever "there" turns out to be

So, we've been away for a while. Living life, and so on. Once I wrapped up my loose ends with my physical that had the unfortunate suspicion of a UTI in my lab work (which turned out to be a weird fluke), it wasn't long before we heard back from headquarters.  We got letters a week later. They state that our legal, medical and dental have all been cleared. Our files have now been forwarded to the placement office. From what we understand in all the conversations and letters/ paperwork, this is where we will get our green or red light.  This could take some considerable time, because the next departure is not until September, as they only depart in Feb and Sept each year. So, we have missed Feb. They will have to match us with someone who is ending their service at that same time, in an area that we qualify for and that has a spot for BOTH of us. It is a complicated situation when you are serving with a spouse. We are really hoping for a "GO!"
We are taking steps in our personal lives to ensure that can leave at anytime. Our lease ends at the same time we approximate we would leave. Our new apartment is working out gloriously in helping us save money to pay down debt. We have paid off 3 of our major debts and have 1 to go, which we will have paid by June. We are then debt free and have no strings attached. It is pretty crazy to think that come summer/ fall our lives will never be the same no matter what. Either we will go half a world away and be dumped in a whole new world to sink or swim, or we will leave Savannah and find our place somewhere else in the US. I can't wait to get an answer so I can finally tell everyone and do some explaining about what must seem like erratic behavior on our part. We have become grinches who refuses to spend any money (to save more), I quit my job that was going just fine to get a dramatically better paying one at a competing agency (thus making some enemies), and we moved from our apartment in the nice part of downtown to a small gray one in suburbia. From the outside I am sure people wonder if we are bipolar. Life is changing very quickly no matter what. I'm not sure what to hope for. The Peace Corps was high on my to-do list for life. But, if we get turned down it was obviously not meant to be and I can carry on and put it out of my mind; Never to be one of those people with regrets who later tries to live vicariously through her kids.
